The Vail School District is creating a tiny house community for teachers and staff members. The first home is now finished and a teacher just moved in. Pretty soon there will be 23 more. With the Red For Ed movement sparking up last school year, it is no surprise that teachers do not make loads of money in Southern Arizona.
The Vail District said they wanted to help these teachers survive in a housing market that is hard for young professionals across the state.
Sydney Scharer just moved into the first one. She is a new teacher and she is in grad school. She said paying just a little over $550 a month in rent including utilities and WiFi is unreal.
