Why Arizona Driver License Don't Expire For Decades

It's one of those "What the heck" moments when people see an Arizona License and they find out it doesn't expire until age 65. But why????

"I think part of the issue was just making it a little less busy at the office," said Arizona Department of Transportation spokesman Doug Nick.

Legislators changed state law several decades ago in an effort they said would streamline the agency and save drivers money and time. Even though your license may not expire for decades, drivers are still required to take a new photo every twelve years.
