Ice Cube's dream of making a fourth Friday movie is finally coming true.

New Line's Richard Brener confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, April 2. Brener revealed that the studio, which has distributed the past three installments of the franchise since the original debuted in 1995, recently locked in a deal with Cube to return as "Craig" and write the upcoming film. The details behind the plot and cast have yet to be confirmed.

"We are making another Friday." Brener declared. "We just closed a deal with Ice Cube to write and star. It’s going to be called Last Friday."

Mike Epps first broke the news about Last Friday earlier this month. The comedian, who portrays Craig's cousin "Day Day" in the franchise, revealed Ice Cube told him about the deal and confirmed his involvement in the fourth film during his appearance on The Breakfast Club.

β€œCube called me the other day and said, β€˜We just finished the deal.’ So we doing Last Friday,” he explained. "I haven’t seen the script but I’m pretty sure it’s good. And we gonna bring in the new comics. We gonna bring the DC Young Flys and all of them in with the OGs and it’s gonna be a good ass time.”

Ice Cube has been doing everything possible to revive the Friday franchise for years. During an interview with Mike Tyson in 2022, Cube said he wrote two screenplays for the film but he wasn't sure if the studio would ever release it. Now that they've got the green light, Epps said he hopes the original cast will return including Chris Tucker, who played "Smokey" in the first film.

β€œHopefully we can get Chris Tucker in it," Epps said. "We need to get Chris Tucker in that because people still love Chris Tucker. He’s still Smokey. He laid it down. He positioned me to do it. Chris, if you listening: we need ya, baby boy. Come on back!”

Stay tuned for more updates on Last Friday coming soon.
