Ma$e plans to release his first official album in years and wants to debut it on the first day of Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial.
The former Bad Boy Records signee recently announced his plans to drop a new project during an episode of his sports talk show It Is What It Is. Ma$e started the show with co-host Treasure "Stat Baby" Wilson and special guest Maurice Clarett by asking if they could hear the music he was listening to on his headphones. He said he was hearing songs that his other co-host Cam'ron picked out for his upcoming album.
“I’m listening to the songs that Killa [Cam’ron] picked out of the stuff I made," Ma$e said. "It’s gonna be crazy... We had to pick the right records. I let him pick the right records.”
After Ma$e teased the album, Clarett decided to put him on the spot and asked when the new music was coming out. The Harlem World rapper paused for a second before he revealed his intention to release the project on the first day of Diddy's sex trafficking trial. Ma$e said the date was May 25, however, the trial reportedly starts on May 5. Shortly after sharing the release date, the seasoned rapper said the project will be a triple-disc album.
"Triple CD! Now we even," Ma$e said.
It's been over 20 years since the 49-year-old artist dropped an official studio album. His previous LP Welcome Back was released in 2004 and featured songs like the title track and "Breathe, Stretch, Shake." He followed up five years later with his second mixtape I Do The Impossible in 2009. Although he had moved on from music and became a pastor, Ma$e announced his plan to drop a comeback album called Now We Even in 2013. The project never saw the light of day.
Ma$e didn't confirm the title of his upcoming LP, but it's possible fans might see his past idea come to life now that he's back in album mode.
