Ice Cube got stuck inside his hotel while a historic storm impacted the east coast of Australia.
The veteran MC traveled down under this past week before his scheduled show in Sydney. In the days leading up to his concert on Friday, March 7, Tropical Cyclone Alfred hit a couple of islands before it approached the mainland between South East Queensland and New South Wales. Ice Cube told Australian talk show "The Project" that he was cooped up inside his hotel room as the storm approached the Gold Coast.
“I’m staying clear of it. It’s pretty cool,” Cube said.
“I haven’t been through a cyclone before," he continued. "I can check this off my bucket list for sure. You know, I’m right here on the beach. The beach looks like it is going to be in the lobby in a minute.”
The hosts tried to recruit Ice Cube to serve as a correspondent during the storm. The rapper-actor entertained the idea and joked about receiving his paycheck in cash. While some shows in the area were canceled due to the extreme weather, Ice Cube's show at the ICC Theatre in Sydney went on without any issues. He performed his classic hits like "Check Yo Self," "I Rep The West," "Friday," and more.
Speaking of Friday, the fourth installment of the beloved comedy franchise is finally in the works. Cube's co-star Mike Epps, who played cousin "Day Day" in the movies, revealed Cube got the green light to begin production on Last Friday.
"I haven’t seen the script but I’m pretty sure it’s good," Epps told The Breakfast Club earlier this week. "And we gonna bring in the new comics. We gonna bring the DC Young Flys and all of them in with the OGs and it’s gonna be a good ass time.”
As of this report, Cube himself has not publicly spoken about the status of Last Friday.
