The Salvation Army Tucson's "Christmas Meal"

Tucson Convention Center

Join The Salvation Army Tucson at TCC (Tucson Convention Center), 260 S. Church Avenue, as they provide a warm Christmas meal on Monday, December 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to those in need. Many less fortunate people living in the Tucson community are currently experiencing homelessness, and we want to ensure that everyone can enjoy a Christmas dinner salvationarmytucson.org/christmas-community-meal

Starting at 11:00 a.m., guests will be seated, and the volunteers will serve a piping hot, traditional Christmas dinner, which will include roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mixed vegetables, rolls, and a slice of pie dolloped with whipped cream. Everyone is welcome, including seniors with no other place to go, struggling working families, single parents, the homeless, and often those who are simply alone at Christmas.

“Many people believe that Christmas dinner is offered only to the homeless, but The Salvation Army has been serving anyone looking for a warm meal and great company since 1887,” said Captain Christopher Kim, City Coordinator Tucson Metro. “We served approximately 1,000 people in 2022, and we’re expecting attendance to be even higher this year.”

Kids Unlimited, an all-inclusive performing arts school that builds confidence and self-esteem in all performers, will be the entertainment during the meal. Community service is a large part of the Kids Unlimited experience. The group performs for The Salvation Army Tucson annually at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with singing and dancing.

The meal will be prepared and served by over 200 dedicated volunteers who will cook, set up, serve, and clean after the event. Volunteers also decorate the room with Christmas items made by local elementary school children, such as placemats, center pieces, wall decorations, banners, and posters. Volunteer online registration is now open, and you may register at the website salvationarmytucson.org and click on the volunteer link or go to volunteer.usawest.org.

Items needed to complete the dinner are pies, rolls, cranberry sauce, and small salt/pepper containers for each table. Please contact Kelli Beasley at (520) 448-5512 to arrange for the drop-off of donated items. All items donated are greatly appreciated!
