Ne-Yo came by the Breakfast Club to drop a new single and to talk music and trending music topics.
Later on in the interview, however, Charlamagne Tha God asked Ne-Yo if he’s ever dealt with depression from working in the music industry.
“Yeah. This is an industry that’s based off of smoking mirrors. You kinda have to develop this kind of this fake side of yourself. Or at least that’s what they tell you that you have to do. I ain’t never been good with fake. My mouth done got me in trouble for keeping it real a few different times. Phony is not my forte. When people are telling you that you have to be a little bit phony in order for this thing to be successful –yeah, that was a little depressing for me because I felt like I didn’t need to be that.”
